Same Cone crusher can be used for intermediate coarse and fine crushing according to application requirement. The breaking head of the cone type crusher spreads more quickly, the depth of head being only about one-third its diameter at the base. The head is supported on a spherical bearing, and its eccentric is longer. The shape of cone head gives the equipment machine greater discharge area for a given gape and setting. It makes the volume of the fine-crushing zone larger, relative to the volume of the coarse-crushing zone. The large throw causes the passage for the crushed material to be suddenly greatly enlarged.

The result of these two aids to travel is faster movement through the crushing zone. At the same time the speed of the head is high enough to pinch all particles at least twice during their passage through the fine-crushing zone, so that discharge size is still determined by the fine setting.

Size of standard cone type of crusher is designated as the approximate diameter of the discharge annulus. Maximum size of material receivable is determined by the convexity of the bowl, the gape ranging as shown according to whether the bowl is fine, medium or coarse.
